Hilex Poly Expands

Thousands of shredded and cleaned plastic bags pieces get ready to be recycled into new bags at the Hilex Poly plant.

Hilex Poly, operator of the world’s largest plastic bag recycling facility, recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the plant’s expansion. Twenty-one jobs were added to the North Vernon, IN economy. In this day and age, that’s big news. Since Hilex Poly’s Bag-2-Bag® program began, the company has placed 30,000 recycling bins in grocery stores across the country, increasing recycling options for consumers and providing an increasing stream of raw materials for its factory.

Now consumers can return and recycle household packaging items such as plastic overwrap for towels, tissues and bottles, newspaper bags, and dry cleaning bags in addition to plastic shopping bags. What a fantastic way to start the year – reminding folks that plastics are too valuable to waste!
